LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Daemen College upon the occasion of
being named a Gold Award Winner among Best Places to Work in Western New
York by Buffalo Business First
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those busi-
nesses within the State of New York which distinguish themselves through
outstanding professional behavior, corporate innovation, and enduring
commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Daemen College upon the occasion of being named a Gold Award Winner
among Best Places to Work in Western New York by Buffalo Business First;
this momentous occasion was celebrated with a Luncheon on Tuesday, March
18, 2014, at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center; and
WHEREAS, Daemen College received the top designation in the Best Work
Place extra-large company category, the only college in the Western New
York Region to be among this year's selected honorees; and
WHEREAS, The results were based on employee surveys on the quality of
the workplace, including team effectiveness, retention risk, alignment
with goals, trust with co-workers, individual contribution, trust in
senior leaders, feeling valued, and work engagement; and
WHEREAS, In addition to the prestigious Best Places to Work Award,
Daemen received the 2014-15 College of Distinction designation as an
institution that is nationally recognized for its excellence, opportu-
nities for personal development, and deemed highly valued by graduate
schools and employers; and
WHEREAS, Colleges of Distinction is a web-based guide for college
bound students seeking schools that are nationally recognized and highly
recommended by education professionals; colleges and universities are
nominated for participation by high school college counselors, college
administrative members, and the Colleges of Distinction selection team;
and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of President Gary A. Olson,
Daemen College has displayed an exceptional sense of community; its
strong student-centered environment, academic excellence and supportive
approach makes it one of the best colleges to learn and work; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges Daemen College's success, recognizes its contributions to the
local and State economies, and extends its highest commendation to the
corporation and its employees, fully confident that, in its future, it
will enjoy the same success which has so characterized its past; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Daemen College upon the occasion of being named a Gold Award
Winner among Best Places to Work in Western New York by Buffalo Business
First; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gary A. Olson, President, Daemen College.
