LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Jay Hebert upon the occasion of
capturing All-American honors in track and field at the New Balance
National Indoor Championships
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Jay
Hebert upon the occasion of capturing All-American honors in track and
field at the New Balance National Indoor Championships, on Sunday, March
16, 2014, in New York City; and
WHEREAS, A Ticonderoga High School senior, Jay Hebert is a four-time
state champion who came in sixth in the boys' 60-meter hurdles final at
the New Balance Track & Field Center in New York City; he was one of the
top six finishers to receive All-American recognition; and
WHEREAS, Jay Hebert was the top northern hurdler in the eight-man
field with a time of 8.04 seconds; and
WHEREAS, The 60-meter distance presented a new challenge for Jay
Hebert, who has been running 55 meters indoors this season; his drive
for success earned him a time of 7.986 seconds in the semifinals, which
was one of the fastest of the meet; and
WHEREAS, Entering the championship, Jay Hebert's quest to finish in
the top six became a reality, avenging his eighth place last year, just
shy of All-American; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by Jay Hebert is outstanding,
and he was loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans,
friends and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, Jay Hebert has proven himself to be an unbeatable combination
of talent, reflecting favorably on his school; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Jay Hebert has clearly made a contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jay Hebert upon the occasion of capturing All-American
honors in track and field at the New Balance National Indoor Champion-
ships; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jay Hebert.
