LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending B Team Buffalo, Inc. upon the occasion
of its 6th year of serving the Buffalo community
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to the efforts of citizens of the State of New York who organize
themselves for the purpose of improving and enhancing the quality of
life in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend B
Team Buffalo upon the occasion of its 6th year of serving the Buffalo,
New York, community; and
WHEREAS, Formed in early 2008 by a small group of Buffalo residents, B
Team Buffalo, Inc.'s mission is to inspire the residents of the Greater
Buffalo area to work collaboratively and play an active role in their
community; the organization strives to be a catalyst for change, seeking
to enhance the quality of life in Western New York through partnerships
and exemplary leadership; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, B Team Buffalo, Inc. has delivered and
served over 70 tons of Buffalo wings to almost 200,000 people during The
National Buffalo Wing Festival; they also recruited and coordinated
volunteers for the Bucket List Bash, as well as the March of Dimes
Chef's Auction; and
WHEREAS, The B Team Buffalo, Inc.'s strong belief in giving back, and
their selfless humanitarian spirit has benefited the Buffalo community
in many ways; every three months, they gather a small group of 10
members to prepare a meal as part of the Cook for Kids program at Ronald
McDonald House; they provided volunteers to assist in the execution of
Buffalo's Olmsted Park's biggest fundraiser the Olmsted Party for the
Parks; decorate homes and businesses with 50,000 lights, and feed 300
people for the Holiday each year for the City of Light Event; and revi-
talized a 10 block section of Doat Street near Shiller Park for their
Doat Street Clean Up; and
WHEREAS, In addition, B Team Buffalo, Inc. served on the planning
committee and volunteered to help run the TedX Buffalo events; recruited
volunteers for Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center fundraising events; spent
a weekend instilling pride in Buffalo with volunteers and planning the
Buffalo Homecoming; and collected food and donations to feed the hungry
during the South Buffalo Community Table; and
WHEREAS, In addition to providing activities to children in the neigh-
borhood for their Community Day project, the B Team Buffalo, Inc.
volunteer their time within a city neighborhood on a Saturday during the
summer; their projects range from building a community garden, to beau-
tifying a neighborhood through tree planting, to picking up garbage; and
WHEREAS, More than deserving of recognition and praise, the B Team
Buffalo has lived up to the motto it adopted from Mahatma Ghandi, "Be
the change you wish to see in this world"; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body recog-
nizes the many contributions of B Team Buffalo, Inc., and applauds its
worthy efforts to create a movement driven by civic engagement to
instill a greater sense of pride in Buffalo's future generations; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proudly moved to honor and commend B
Team Buffalo, Inc. which has labored so conscientiously to secure and
improve the quality of life for the residents and community it serves,
noting the significance of its unremitting efforts to build a commonali-
ty of interest and pride of cooperative achievement, inherent in the
values of community and family life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend B Team Buffalo upon the occasion of its 6th year of serving the
Buffalo community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to B Team Buffalo, Inc.
