LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Rural Ulster Preservation Company upon
the occasion of its designation as a 2014 SUNY New Paltz School of Busi-
ness Hall of Fame inductee with the Dean's Award of Excellence
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations within the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Rural Ulster Preservation Company upon the occasion of its designation
as a 2014 SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame inductee with
the Dean's Award of Excellence; and
WHEREAS, This momentous Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take
place on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the Wiltwyck Golf Club, Kingston, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1981, Rural Ulster Preservation Company
(RUPCO) is a non-profit affordable housing organization with a mission
to create homes, support people and improve communities; and
WHEREAS, With a vision for strong vibrant communities of opportunity
and a home for everyone, RUPCO offers rental assistance, homeownership,
home repair grants and property management services; their HUD certified
housing counselors provide education and grants for income eligible
residents; and
WHEREAS, RUPCO is the region's leading provider and advocate of quali-
ty, affordable housing and community development programs aimed to
provide opportunity and revitalize communities; the organization creates
stronger and safer communities for all through the development, improve-
ment, preservation and addition of housing and business opportunities
throughout the region; and
WHEREAS, Since 2009, RUPCO has actively supported the SUNY New Paltz
Internship Program with approximately 20 interns working within their
organization to assist in all areas of business; and
WHEREAS, In addition, RUPCO has truly embraced the students by offer-
ing them many mentoring opportunities and life experiences that will
support and further their careers; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to recognize and pay tribute to Rural Ulster Preservation Company,
in so effectively carrying out its mission, to assist the members of its
community and to enhance the lives of citizens throughout this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Rural Ulster Preservation Company upon the occasion of its desig-
nation as a 2014 SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame inductee
with the Dean's Award of Excellence; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rural Ulster Preservation Company.
