LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Raymond G. Giganti upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of a Civilian Employee Recognition Award at
the 38th New York State Police Annual Superintendent's Commendation and
Awards Day Ceremony

WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding; this Legislative Body is moved to honor
those who preserve and protect such values, lauding particularly their
unwavering courage and dedication in the daily performance of their
duties; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the caring concern and heroic acts of individuals who take
prompt and appropriate action in emergency situations, nobly risking
their own lives in an effort to preserve the life of another; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Raymond G. Giganti of Division Aviation Unit, Troop H, upon the occasion
of his designation as the recipient of a Civilian Employee Recognition
Award to be celebrated at the 38th New York State Police Superinten-
dent's Commendation and Awards Day Ceremony, to be held on Wednesday,
May 7, 2014, at the New York State Police Academy in Albany, New York;
and
WHEREAS, An Aircraft Pilot since December 21, 2006, Raymond G. Giganti
will receive this auspicious award in recognition of his outstanding
work performed during a mission to save three New York State residents;
and
WHEREAS, On March 4, 2013, the New York State Police Aviation unit
received a call for assistance for three subjects stranded on melting
ice on the Muscoot Reservoir in the Town of Somers, Westchester County,
New York; Raymond G. Giganti co-piloted Division aircraft 1H43 to rescue
two individuals from the ice; and
WHEREAS, Using his superb training and expertise, Raymond G. Giganti
coordinated, devised, and executed a dangerous mission under challenging
environmental conditions, safely assisting with the rescuing of three
New York residents from a life-threatening catastrophe; and
WHEREAS, In keeping with the finest traditions of the New York State
Police, Raymond G. Giganti has distinguished himself by his exemplary
achievement and outstanding performance on behalf of the community he so
faithfully and courageously serves; and
WHEREAS, The dedicated efforts of public servants, such as Raymond G.
Giganti, who unselfishly distinguish themselves in service to their
community and its citizens during emergencies are worthy of the full
praise of this Legislative Body and the people of the State of New York;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Raymond G. Giganti upon the occasion of his designation as the
recipient of a Civilian Employee Recognition Award at the 38th New York
State Police Annual Superintendent's Commendation and Awards Day Ceremo-
ny; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, he tran-
smitted to Raymond G. Giganti.
