LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Russ Family upon the occasion of
their designation as recipients of the Sunrise Volunteer Award by the
Friends of Sunrise

WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and serv-
ing can be sustained and strengthened; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
the dedicated efforts of those individuals from across the State of New
York who volunteer their time and energies in service to the community;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concerns, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Russ Family upon the occasion of their designation as recipients of the
Sunrise Volunteer Award by the Friends of Sunrise on Thursday, March 27,
2014, at the Glen Head Country Club; and
WHEREAS, Friends of Sunrise is an organization dedicated to raising
funds and awareness for Sunrise Day Camp, the first day camp in the
United States for children with cancer and their siblings; and
WHEREAS, The Russ Family: Sharon, Adam, Max, Alex, and Sammi, are
being recognized for their outstanding volunteer work with Sunrise Day
Camp; and
WHEREAS, Families who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for the Russ Family and to wish them
continued success in all of their future endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Russ Family upon the occasion of their designation as recipi-
ents of the Sunrise Volunteer Award by the Friends of Sunrise; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Russ Family.
