LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sister Janet DiPasquale upon the occa-
sion of being selected as the 2014 Social Worker of the Year by the
National Association of Social Workers, New York State Chapter

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to publicly recognize
those extraordinary individuals who have made contributions to the
success and progress of society in the course of their life's work; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sister Janet DiPasquale upon the occasion of being selected as the 2014
Social Worker of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers,
New York State Chapter; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Medaille College, Sister Janet DiPasquale has a
master's degree in counseling from Canisius College, and a master's
degree in social work from the University at Buffalo; and
WHEREAS, Sister Janet DiPasquale is a member of the Sisters of St.
Joseph congregation based in Clarence, New York; she has been actively
engaged in social work for more than 30 years; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Sister Janet DiPasquale serves as Executive Direc-
tor of the Teaching and Restoring Youth (TRY) program in Buffalo, New
York, which provides transitional housing and access to education, coun-
seling, health care and job training for young women ages 16 to 24 who
are homeless or trauma victims; and
WHEREAS, Most recently, Sister Janet DiPasquale became involved in the
establishment of an eight-unit apartment building, known as TRY Level 2,
which offers independent living opportunities for women affiliated with
the TRY program; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Sister Janet DiPasquale has
displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sister Janet DiPasquale upon the occasion of being selected as the
2014 Social Worker of the Year by the National Association of Social
Workers, New York State Chapter; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sister Janet DiPasquale.
