LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kevin B. Meehan upon the occasion of his
induction into the Bishop Maginn High School Hall of Fame as a Student-
Athlete on May 2, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kevin B. Meehan upon the occasion of his induction into the Bishop
Maginn High School Hall of Fame as a Student-Athlete, to be celebrated
at its Induction Dinner on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Shaker Ridge Country
Club, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, A 1999 graduate of Bishop Maginn High School, Kevin B. Meehan
played football for four years and was a two year Varsity starter at
center on offense and linebacker on defense; he was a smart and aggres-
sive leader of the offensive line, often times effectively blocking much
larger defensive players; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, at linebacker on defense, he was extremely
consistent and the team leader for total tackles; he was selected to the
Big Ten All-Star Team at the center position; and
WHEREAS, Upon his graduation from Bishop Maginn High School, Kevin B.
Meehan went on to earn his Bachelor's degree of Science in Education
from the University of Cortland; and
WHEREAS, In 2005, Kevin B. Meehan became a Police Officer for the City
of Albany; he was accepted into the Albany Police Emergency Services
team in 2007, as a police instructor in General Tactics, SWAT Entry
Tactics, Sniper Operations, and Physical Fitness; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Kevin B. Meehan continued his education and
became an Instructor/Evaluator, as well as a Master Instructor; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious career, Kevin B. Meehan has
received numerous awards and accolades some of which include Unit Cita-
tions, the Chief of Police Award, Letters of Accommodation, the Merito-
rious Duty Award and the Albany Police Officer Medal of Valor; and
WHEREAS, Kevin B. Meehan also graciously volunteers his time and ener-
gies as an instructor at the Albany Police Cadet Academy, an Albany
Police Department sponsored summer youth education program; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Kevin B. Meehan has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kevin B. Meehan upon the occasion of his induction into the Bishop
Maginn High School Hall of Fame as a Student-Athlete; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kevin B. Meehan.
