LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert Sears upon the occasion of his
induction into the Bishop Maginn High School Hall of Fame as a Student-
Athlete on May 2, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Robert Sears upon the occasion of his induction into the Bishop Maginn
High School Hall of Fame as a Student-Athlete, to be celebrated at its
Induction Dinner on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Shaker Ridge Country Club,
Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, A 1993 graduate of Bishop Maginn High School, Robert Sears
played Varsity Football in his Sophomore and Senior years, as well as
Varsity Basketball his Sophomore, Junior and Senior years; and
WHEREAS, Robert Sears was an outstanding forward on the basketball
team that made a serious run at a Section 2 Title; in 1993, he was
selected to the Section 2 Basketball All-Tournament Team and received
Honorable Mention All-Area in THE SCHENECTADY GAZETTE; and
WHEREAS, Currently working towards an MPA at Marist College, Robert
Sears holds a Bachelor's degree from SUNY Albany; and
WHEREAS, Robert Sears has honorably served as a Police Officer for 16
years and holds the rank of Commander with the Albany Police Department;
and
WHEREAS, Active within his community, Robert Sears volunteers his time
and energies to coach his daughter's CYO Basketball Team at St. Thomas
in Delmar, as well as his son's Little League team at Hudson Valley
Little League; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Robert Sears has displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Angela, and their two
beautiful children, Morgan and Brady, all of whom feel privileged to be
a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert Sears upon the occasion of his induction into the Bishop
Maginn High School Hall of Fame as a Student-Athlete; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert Sears.
