LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Collin Wittmann upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Student Award by the Capital District
YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem branches

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Collin Witt-
mann upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Student
Award by the Capital District YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem branches to
be celebrated at its 17th Annual Outstanding Student and Educator cere-
mony on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Appel Inn in Altamont, New York;
and
WHEREAS, A junior at Bethlehem Central High School, Collin Wittmann is
actively involved inside and outside of school; and
WHEREAS, Collin Wittman is the treasurer and co-founder of New York
State's first ever Youth United Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, whose
main focus is to eradicate poverty housing; currently, he is working to
raise a significant amount of funds to build a home for a family in
need; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Collin Wittmann is a member of the Key Club
where he helps organize and run a number of school activities, is a
tutor for French and mathematics, and a member of Students for Peace and
Survival, and student council; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his outstanding effort within his school,
Collin Wittmann volunteers at Delmar Place assisted living, is on the
planning committee for the Hunger Walk, and volunteers at the New York
State School Music Association every year; and
WHEREAS, With his sense of civic duty and his commitment to others,
Collin Wittmann represents the best development of the potential which
is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Collin Wittmann continued success throughout his school
years and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Collin Wittmann upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Student Award by the Capital District YMCA Guilderland and Beth-
lehem branches; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Collin Wittmann.
