LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ralph and Sandra Zecchino upon the occa-
sion of their retirement after 44 years of distinguished service to the
Greece Choral Society
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those individuals whose commitment and creative talents have
contributed to the education, entertainment and cultural enrichment of
their community and enhanced the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Ralph and Sandra Zecchino upon the occasion of their retirement after 44
years of distinguished service to the Greece Choral Society; and
WHEREAS, For the past 44 years, Ralph and Sandra "Sandy" Zecchino have
rendered faithful, conscientious and valuable service to the Greece
Choral Society, enlivening their community of Greece, New York, and
beyond with beautiful choir music; and
WHEREAS, Ralph Zecchino, a well-known and highly respected music
educator, organized the founding of the Greece Choral Society in 1970,
as part of the Greece Central School District's Continuing Education
Program; he has served continuously as the group's director ever since;
and
WHEREAS, Three years later, Sandy Zecchino assumed the duties of piano
accompanist, a role in which she would perform admirably over the next
four decades; and
WHEREAS, Under the direction of this remarkable couple, the Greece
Choral Society has convened every Monday night for 44 years; the society
is made up of more than 100 singers who join together to practice for
the five concerts they perform each year; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Greater Rochester Choral Consortium, the
Greece Choral Society performs major classical works, folk music and
spirituals, as well as Broadway show tunes; the majority of their
concerts are held at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Rochester, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Under Ralph and Sandy Zecchino's luminous direction, the
Greece Choral Society has had the opportunity to perform at numerous
important functions such as the 50th Anniversary observation marking the
end of World War II in Normandy, France; it also performed at Notre Dame
Cathedral in Paris, in Ireland and at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Wash-
ington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by all of those with
whom they have worked, Ralph and Sandy Zecchino will be remembered for
their excellent musicianship and outstanding commitment to bringing a
wide variety of choral music to their community; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that when indi-
viduals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ralph and Sandra Zecchino, and to wish them continued success in
all their future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ralph and Sandra Zecchino.
