LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Reverend Dr. Sunny Philip upon the occa-
sion of his designation for special recognition by the Ambassador for
Christ International Outreach Ministry and Gateway Christian Center on
Sunday, May 4, 2014

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Reverend Dr.
Sunny Philip upon the occasion of his designation for special recogni-
tion by the Ambassador For Christ International Outreach Ministry and
Gateway Christian Center at its 4th Annual Pastors and Women of
Distinction Appreciation Awards Gala on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Floral
Terrace, Floral Park, New York; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Sunny Philip, who has served as a Pastor for
more than 25 years, is being recognized for his exemplary work and
commitment to his community, which serves to empower others; and
WHEREAS, Senior Pastor of the multi-cultural Gateway World Christian
Center, a non-international denominational, full gospel, community
oriented church in Valley Stream, New York, Reverend Dr. Sunny Philip is
responsible for the spiritual well-being of its parishioners; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Reverend Dr. Sunny Philip established the Global
Network of Christian Indian Leaders (GONCIL), a leadership network for
Indian Christian Ministers which conducts leadership development confer-
ences in different nations across the globe; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Sunny Philip holds a Bachelor's degree in Chem-
istry from Kerala University in India, a Bachelor's degree in Chemical
Engineering from Polytechnic University, a Master's degree in Practical
Theology from Trinity College, and an Honorary Doctorate in Christian
Education from Freedom Theological Seminary in Rogers, Alaska; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his devoted wife, Pastor Mercy,
co-pastor of Gateway World Christian Center, as well as his three loving
children and his grandson, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of
his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Reverend Dr. Sunny Philip upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Ambassador For Christ International Outreach
Ministry and Gateway Christian Center on Sunday, May 4, 2014, noting his
unremitting and compassionate faith and her exemplary service to God,
man, and his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Dr. Sunny Philip.
