LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Eta Nu Sigma Chapter of Sigma
Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Golden
Mother's Day Scholarship Jazz Brunch
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations within the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Eta Nu Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. upon the
occasion of its Annual Golden Mother's Day Scholarship Jazz Brunch, to
be celebrated on Saturday, May 10, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., gives leadership, service,
and resources toward removing barriers and inequalities so that all
people of America may develop their potential and exercise full citizen-
ship; and
WHEREAS, Chartered on December 21, 1991, the women of the enterprising
Eta Nu Sigma chapter work very hard to uphold the highest standards of
womanhood and excellence; the enterprising Eta Nu Sigma Alumnae Chapter
serves the Brooklyn and Queens, New York, communities; and
WHEREAS, Eta Nu Sigma's annual hallmark activity is its Mother's Day
Scholarship Jazz Brunch, organized to raise scholarship funds, which are
awarded to promising college-bound youth; in addition, the brunch also
honors matriarchs in families and neighborhoods, as well as organiza-
tions, that contribute to the lives of youth; and
WHEREAS, In 2005, Seven Roses Legacy Foundation, a 501(c)3 organiza-
tion, was founded by members of Eta Nu Sigma Chapter in an effort to
maximize the impact of their charitable activities, such as the Golden
Mother's Day Scholarship Jazz Brunch; the Foundation's mission is to
serve the Brooklyn and Queens communities by empowering youth to expand
their cultural horizons, improve their financial literacy and seek high-
er education; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Eta Nu Sigma Chapter of Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. upon the
occasion of hosting its Annual Golden Mother's Day Scholarship Jazz
Brunch; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Eta Nu Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
