LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Valerie Osborn upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award by the
Horace J. Inman Senior Center in Amsterdam, New York

WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
the dedicated efforts of those individuals from across the State of New
York who volunteer their time and energies in service to the community;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Valerie Osborn upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Volunteer of the Year Award by the Horace J. Inman Senior Center in
Amsterdam, New York; this auspicious occasion was celebrated at the
Center's recognition dinner on Friday, April 25, 2014; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Amsterdam High School, Valerie Osborn works for
Fidelis Care, an organization which occasionally sponsors events at the
Horace J. Inman Senior Center; and
WHEREAS, After finishing work one day, Valerie Osborn stopped by to
visit the Center; this would be the beginning of a long and fruitful
relationship; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed woman became Chairman of the Board of Directors
at the Horace J. Inman Senior Center, a position in which she has served
admirably; and
WHEREAS, Valerie Osborn has dedicated countless hours to planning
events and fulfilling the needs of senior citizens; her leadership has
been vital in helping elderly people in taking part in the Center's many
fun activities, including Zumba, yoga, and line dancing; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Valerie Osborn has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which this remarkable woman has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Valerie Osborn upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Horace J. Inman Senior Center
in Amsterdam, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Valerie Osborn.
