LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending The Jewish Children's Museum upon the
occasion of hosting its 9th Annual Gala Dinner on April 7, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality of
life of the citizens of the State of New York is greatly enriched by its
exceptional cultural, educational and recreational institutions; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
The Jewish Children's Museum upon the occasion of hosting its 9th Annual
Gala Dinner, celebrating nine years of promoting respect and understand-
ing on Monday, April 7, 2014, in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, What began as a project to give children a greater under-
standing and awareness of Jewish culture has, over the last nine years,
evolved into an entity that is larger than life and the only Jewish
themed children's museum in the United States; and
WHEREAS, The remarkable success of The Jewish Children's Museum's
Annual Gala Dinner is due in large part to its dedicated co-chairs, Lipa
Lieberman of Eastern Consolidated, and Alan Greene of Continental
Abstract Corp., who will be honored during this momentous occasion; and
WHEREAS, Children of all different cultures and backgrounds are enth-
ralled, educated and entertained by The Jewish Children's Museum (JCM)
and its four floors of interactive, hands on exhibits which are a cele-
bration of Jewish life, as well as a valuable lesson in tolerance and
understanding; and
WHEREAS, The JCM Public School Initiative, launched in September of
2009, provides students with free admission, giving them the ability to
learn about their community neighbors, gaining insight into their tradi-
tions, in an effort to build bridges and foster respect between individ-
uals; and
WHEREAS, More than just a museum, the JCM serves as a resource, offer-
ing community events and holiday programming including Art Week, Kosher
Day, Children's Safety Day in conjunction with the FBI, and a Presi-
dent's Week Food Drive; and
WHEREAS, Steeped in a proud and distinguished history, The Jewish
Children's Museum may take just pride in its purposeful growth, as it
looks forward to continuing to serve the educational, cultural and
intellectual needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when insti-
tutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Jewish Children's Museum upon the occasion of hosting its
9th Annual Gala Dinner on April 7, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Jewish Children's Museum of Brooklyn, New York, and the
aforementioned honorees.
