LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert L. Schoelle, Jr. upon the occa-
sion of his designation as recipient of the 2014 President's Award by
the Garden City Chamber of Commerce on May 9, 2014

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Robert L. Schoelle, Jr. has given not only of his time and
energies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robert L.
Schoelle, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2014 President's Award by the Garden City Chamber of Commerce, to be
celebrated at its 12th Annual Pineapple Ball on Friday, May 9, 2014, at
the Garden City Hotel, Garden City, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award, initiated in 2011, recognizes above
and beyond volunteer spirit and contributions within the Garden City
Community and beyond; and
WHEREAS, A 43 year resident of Garden City, Robert L. Schoelle, Jr.
has served as Village Administrator since his appointment in February of
1980; in addition, he has served as a member of both the Village Plan-
ning Commission and Board of Police Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, Robert L. Schoelle, Jr., affectionately known as Bob, has
been called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic
and charitable endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly;
and
WHEREAS, A Life Member of the Men's Association of Garden City High
School (TMA), Robert L. Schoelle, Jr. has contributed exceptional
service to the Association over many years; he has been instrumental in
the TMA's support of athletic and social activities of students in the
Garden City Schools, as well as the promotion of good sportsmanship and
ideal citizenship; and
WHEREAS, A member since 1982, Robert L. Schoelle, Jr. currently serves
as President of the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club, the world's largest
service organization, where he has supervised the Rotary Club's assist-
ance to the Salvation Army's Holiday Bell Ringing Project for more than
25 years; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he serves on the RotaCare Board of Directors;
established by the Rotary Club in 1992, RotaCare provides free health
care to individuals who have the most need and the least access to
medical care; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Robert L. Schoelle, Jr. has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Robert L. Schoelle, Jr. has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that when indi-
viduals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert L. Schoelle, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2014 President's Award by the Garden City Chamber of
Commerce on May 9, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert L. Schoelle, Jr.
