LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Terry Leonard upon the occasion of his
retirement after many years of distinguished service to Catholic Chari-
ties of Herkimer County
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Terry Leonard upon the occasion of his retirement after 22 years of
distinguished service to Catholic Charities of Herkimer County; and
WHEREAS, For the past 22 years, Terry Leonard rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to Catholic Charities of Herkimer
County, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues;
and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Ilion, New York, Terry Leonard is a
graduate of Herkimer High School, and received his associates degree in
business from Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) in 1969; he
received his bachelor of science degree in business from Utica College
of Syracuse University in 2001; and
WHEREAS, Terry Leonard worked at Remington Arms as a computer systems
analyst for 21 years; and
WHEREAS, In 1992, this esteemed man began his service at Catholic
Charities of Herkimer County, when he was first hired as a program
assistant; in addition, he also accepted the responsibilities of book-
keeper and "Runaway and Homeless" youth crisis worker; in 1998, he was
appointed fiscal director of the organization; and
WHEREAS, Terry Leonard became executive director of the agency in
2002; during his tenure, he helped improve the quality of life for indi-
viduals and families in Herkimer County through his compassion and
generosity to those in need; and
WHEREAS, Truly embodying the mission of Catholic Charities, Terry
Leonard's leadership empowered the under-privileged, increased awareness
of agency programs, and highlighted the needs of the poor and vulnerable
in the community; and
WHEREAS, Terry Leonard has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; he is a member of the boards of directors of
the Mohawk Valley Community Action, Herkimer County Healthnet, and
numerous other worthy nonprofit organizations; and
WHEREAS, A man of faith, Terry Leonard is active in the Church of the
Annunciation in Ilion, New York, serving in the Marriage Preparation
Ministry and as a former lector; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Terry Leonard has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of nearly 45 years,
Linda, their three children, and seven grandchildren, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Terry Leonard upon the occasion of his retirement after 22 years
of distinguished service to Catholic Charities of Herkimer County; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Terry Leonard.
