LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Aidan P. Pacifico upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the Robert L. Weininger Memo-
rial V.F.W. Post No. 8692 on May 4, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the youth of
today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Aidan P. Pacifico upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Robert L. Weininger Memorial V.F.W. Post No. 8692 at
its 44th Annual Loyalty Day Ceremony on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at the Post
Hall, Colonie, New York; and
WHEREAS, As part of the Loyalty Day, "The Celebration of Patriotism,"
event, Aidan P. Pacifico will be presented the 2014 Patriot's Pen Award;
and
WHEREAS, The V.F.W. sponsors the annual Patriot's Pen essay-writing
contest to encourage youthful minds to examine our nation's history and
their own experiences in modem American society; students draft a 300 to
400 word essay expressing their views on a patriotic theme chosen by the
V.F.W. Commander-in-Chief; this year's theme was, "What Patriotism Means
to Me"; and
WHEREAS, Aidan P. Pacifico, a student at Christian Brothers Academy in
Albany, New York, was selected as a Patriot's Pen winner for his
outstanding essay; and
WHEREAS, Loyalty Day is a commemorative holiday, during the observance
of which Americans pause to celebrate our freedom and to reaffirm our
allegiance to the United States, while also remembering our responsibil-
ities to continue the legacy of liberty; and
WHEREAS, In publicly and effectively reflecting on the values of citi-
zenship, patriotism, and what it means to be an American, Aidan P.
Pacifico exemplifies the ideals of Loyalty Day, and embodies the spirit
of the principles upon which this Nation was founded; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Aidan P. Pacifico continued success throughout his school
years and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Aidan P. Pacifico upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Robert L. Weininger Memorial V.F.W. Post No.
8692 at its 44th Annual Loyalty Day Ceremony; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Aidan P. Pacifico.
