LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the New York City District Council of
Carpenters Labor Technical College upon the occasion of holding its 45th
Annual Graduating Apprentice Contest/Open House/Exhibits

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the New York
City District Council of Carpenters Labor Technical College upon the
occasion of its 45th Annual Graduating Apprentice/Open House/Exhibits;
this auspicious occasion was celebrated at the Labor Technical College
on Wednesday, April 16, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The New York City District Council of Carpenters is a repre-
sentative organization comprised of eight individual Locals and 25,000
union members which provides a voice for New York City's most dedicated
and skilled Carpenters, Millwrights, Dockbuilders, Timbermen, Cabinet-
makers, Floorcoverers and Industrial Workers; and
WHEREAS, For 45 years, the New York City District Council of Carpen-
ters Labor Technical College has held its annual Graduating Apprentice
Contest/Open House/Exhibits event showcasing the high quality work of
its tradespeople; at this gathering, trade associations, high school
students, and the general public, as well as Union members and their
families are given a first-hand look at the talent and skills the
school's graduates possess; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed event features graduating apprentices competing
in the areas of Carpentry, Interior Systems, Cabinet Making, Millwright
and Floor Covering; and
WHEREAS, The Labor Technical College also exhibited and demonstrated
health and safety training along with Dockbuilder and Timberman exhib-
its; top manufacturers of construction equipment and building materials
held presentations as well; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those programs
which enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have
shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have
earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the New York City District Council of Carpenters Labor Technical
College upon the occasion of holding its 45th Annual Graduating Appren-
tice Contest/Open House/Exhibits; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the New York City District Council of Carpenters Labor Tech-
nical College.
