LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Saratoga Hospital upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the Contributions to Healthcare Award by
the Northeast Kidney Foundation

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Saratoga Hospital upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the Contributions to Healthcare Award by the Northeast Kidney Founda-
tion; the hospital will be honored at the Foundation's 2014 Gift of Life
Celebration on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at the Hilton Albany, Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, The Northeast Kidney Foundation is a voluntary health organ-
ization dedicated to preventing kidney disease and enhancing the lives
of all those affected; formed in 1974 as a philanthropic gift of Edwin
and Rhoda Sperber, the Foundation provides services to patients, family
members, the general public and clinical and academic professionals
throughout the Northeast; and
WHEREAS, Kidney disease is a major health problem; one in seven adults
is at risk, and related conditions, including diabetes and hypertension,
exacerbate the problem; and
WHEREAS, Medical professionals and hospitals are critical to the fight
against kidney disease, playing key roles in early identification,
intervention and prevention, and providing life-saving treatment; and
WHEREAS, In receiving this prestigious award, Saratoga Hospital has
demonstrated its enduring commitment, leadership, and excellence in
confronting the challenge of kidney disease; this esteemed hospital has
clearly made a positive difference in the lives of their patients and
all those affected; and
WHEREAS, Institutions within the medical community who have made
sustained contributions to the progress of medicine and the improvement
of life are worthy and due the highest commendation for their contrib-
utions to the well-being of all New York State residents; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Saratoga Hospital upon the occasion of its designation as recip-
ient of the Contributions to Healthcare Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Saratoga Hospital.
