LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sweet Jenny's Ice Cream upon the occa-
sion of its designation as recipient of the 2014 At Your Service Award
by the Amherst Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business organ-
izations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sweet Jenny's Ice Cream upon the occasion of its designation as recipi-
ent of the 2014 At Your Service Award by the Amherst Chamber of
Commerce; this momentous occasion will be celebrated at the Chamber's
Annual Small Business Awards Luncheon and Showcase, to be held on
Friday, May 16, 2014, at Samuel's Grande Manor, Williamsville, New York;
and
WHEREAS, The Amherst Chamber of Commerce is one of the 10 largest
chambers in New York State due to its steadfast commitment to providing
services members need to grow their business and prosperity; each May,
the Chamber hosts a luncheon to honor seven outstanding small businesses
in Western New York for their vast contributions to the region; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1985, Sweet Jenny's Ice Cream, located in the
Village of Williamsville, New York, is known for creating an amazing and
diverse array of chocolates and treats including its most famous French
silks, turning out high quality, small batch artisan ice cream, and its
unwavering community involvement; and
WHEREAS, Sweet Jenny's Ice Cream was purchased in 2011 by Howard and
Tara Cadmus; the couple purchased Jenny's from its former and only prior
owner Deborah Hanney; and
WHEREAS, Active within the community, Sweet Jenny's Ice Cream assists
the community through local and regional charity events, some of which
include: gift certificate donations, charity ice cream flavors, donating
and serving products at events, sponsorships, and after every holiday
switch over donating the excess product to places like the Food Bank and
City Mission; and
WHEREAS, In 2015 Sweet Jenny's Ice Cream will celebrate its 30th Anni-
versary and will undergo major changes; these changes include the
purchase of a larger location at the Williamsville Water Mill, and
expanding its already growing wholesale ice cream side; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the company plans to add more employees to the
already 20 to 33 strong existing crew members; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Sweet Jenny's Ice Cream and Gelato can be found in
Dash's, Premier Gourmet, Tops Friendly Markets and Lexington Co-Op, as
well as in the freezers of many local bakeries, wineries, and on the
dessert menus of a large number of local restaurants in the area; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Sweet Jenny's Ice
Cream; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when business
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sweet Jenny's Ice Cream upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2014 At Your Service Award by the Amherst Chamber of
Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sweet Jenny's Ice Cream, Williamsville, New York.
