LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Colleen West upon the occasion of her
designation as a 2014 Long Island Center for Business and Professional
Women Achiever
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding individuals who distinguish themselves through their excep-
tional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Colleen West upon the occasion of her designation as a 2014 Long Island
Center for Business and Professional Women Achiever; this auspicious
occasion will be celebrated at the Center's 35th Annual Achievers'
Awards Gala on Wednesday, May 7, 2014; and
WHEREAS, For more than 35 years, the Long Island Center for Business
and Professional Women has been dedicated to advancing women in busi-
ness, industry and the professions; and
WHEREAS, The Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women
celebrate and honor women who have made significant contributions in
their fields, are leaders, mentors, and who have opened doors for other
women to help foster their rise in business, the professions and in
their community; and
WHEREAS, Colleen West of Bayport, New York, is the Founder and Presi-
dent of Enright Court Reporting, Inc.; she began her career as a court
reporter in 1989, and established Enright Court Reporting, Inc. in 1991;
through her vision and commitment, the agency has grown to a staff of
more than 30, and is recognized as one of the most reliable, accurate,
and professional agencies serving Long Island and the New York Metropol-
itan area; and
WHEREAS, In 1998, Colleen West purchased a franchise for transcription
services, and under her leadership, the franchise transitioned to an
alliance program which now consists of 50 independently-owned tran-
scription companies throughout the nation; she is the sole owner of
Enright Sten-Tel Transcription Services, Inc., a Web-based company
providing transcription services to a broad range of professions includ-
ing hospitals, large medical practices, and law firms, and is ranked
among the top three out of the 50 Sten-Tel transcription companies
nationwide; and
WHEREAS, A recognized business leader, Colleen West sits on several
advisory boards, including the Long Island Business Institute and both
the Sayville and Patchogue Chambers of Commerce; in January 2009, she
began a two-year term as the Chair of the Board of Directors of United
Cerebral Palsy of Suffolk; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Colleen West is on the Board of Directors for
the Bob Venero Children's Foundation, volunteers her time to the Cody
Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities at Stony Brook Univer-
sity, and Splashes of Hope, is a member of the National Association of
Women Business Owners by whom she has been honored, a member of the
National Association of Female Executives, and numerous other profes-
sional organizations; and
WHEREAS, Colleen West is the recipient of numerous awards and acco-
lades including being named one of Long Island's 50 Most Influential
Women by Long Island Business News in 2008 and was the Victims Informa-
tion Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS) 2006 honoree; she also has been featured
on Cablevision's "Women of the New Century," and was inducted into the
2008 Energeia Partnership, The Academy for Regional Stewardship at
Molloy College; and
WHEREAS, This committed and determined woman is a graduate of the Long
Island Business Institute and the Dale Carnegie Institute; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Steve, and their
two daughters, Shannon and Erin, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their profession and community,
and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence, certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Colleen West upon the occasion of her designation as a 2014 Long
Island Center for Business and Professional Women Achiever; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Colleen West.
