LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Wendy McLean upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Woman of Valor Award on May 22, 2014

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Wendy McLean
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Woman of Valor
Award, to be celebrated at the 7th Annual Men of Distinction and Women
of Valor Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 22, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Men of Distinction and Women of Valor Awards Ceremony is
held each year to recognize and pay just tribute to outstanding and
accomplished individuals whose leadership roles have had a significant
impact on the daily lives of the people of the State of New York, and
who have gone above and beyond the call of duty; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New
York, Wendy McLean grew up under the amazing tutelage of her late
father, who taught her valuable life lessons and molded her into a
terribly charismatic business mogul, and shining humanitarian beacon;
and
WHEREAS, Being a true people's person, and living life in the positive
light of her influential father, Wendy McLean utilized her potential to
its fullest, and by the age of 25, she had found herself purchasing her
first home, becoming a landlord, promoter, and solidifying herself as a
powerful brand in the city; and
WHEREAS, After overcoming many adversities, Wendy McLean pushed
herself beyond her limits, strategically planning and accomplishing her
next goal of opening the infamous Denim Lounge; and
WHEREAS, Subsequent to the opening of Denim Lounge, Wendy McLean found
herself on a perpetual roll of success; events, new business ventures,
as well as loving relationships blossomed, finally culminating in the
most beautiful of her creations, her son, Denim; and
WHEREAS, Fostering a powerful connection with her son, Denim, allowed
Wendy McLean to bring forth Denim Kids, a non-profit organization which
provides the underprivileged children and youth of New York City commu-
nities with clothing, food and school supplies; and
WHEREAS, Both Denim and Wendy enjoyed a wonderful and love-filled two
years together, when a tragic accident would eventually claim the life
of young Denim; and
WHEREAS, The spirit which Denim possessed and his will to survive rang
strongly in the hearts of all those who heard his story; this powerful
connection found itself reincarnated in a new addition to the Denim Kids
mission, which now embraces and guides the future leaders of tomorrow
while also providing a supportive network for mothers and caregivers
mourning over their children who unexpectedly lost their lives; and
WHEREAS, Today, Denim lives on through the continued pioneering,
giving, and inspirational hands of his mother, Wendy McLean; she contin-
ues to capture the hearts of all those she comes across; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Wendy McLean upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Woman of Valor Award on May 22, 2014; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Wendy McLean.
