LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Roland Baril upon the occasion of being
named Clayton's 2014 Citizen of the Year
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Roland Baril
upon the occasion of being named Clayton's 2014 Citizen of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Born in East Orange, New Jersey, Roland "Bud" Baril moved to
Clayton in 1992; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Bud Baril has been an integral part of
the community, serving on the Clayton Improvement Association, as past
chairman of the Local Waterfront Revitalization Project and currently,
as Chairman of the joint town/village planning board; and
WHEREAS, In the mid 1990s, Bud Baril joined the Clayton Rotary Club
and has served the organization in the positions of president and vice
president; and
WHEREAS, As a part of the Clayton Rotary Club, Bud Baril was instru-
mental in the creation of the Rotary multiuse facility in downtown Clay-
ton, and was honored for his service with the organization with the
Rotary International Paul Harris Award; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Bud Baril serves his community as part of TIERS
(Thousand Islands Emergency Rescue Service), where he is a volunteer
driver and Chairman of the Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Bud Baril has also been involved in many other activities
which have helped to better his community including the building of the
new docks and dock service at Frink Park and currently, is working on
the area's Riverwalk project; and
WHEREAS, An individual who has truly gone above and beyond to serve
his community, Bud Baril has made a difference not only in Clayton, but
in the North Country region as a whole; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Roland Baril upon the occasion of being named Clayton's 2014 Citi-
zen of the Year; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Roland "Bud" Baril.
