LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Stephanie McDermott upon the occasion of
her recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Associ-
ation as a 2014 OCIAA Scholar Athlete
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Stephanie
McDermott upon the occasion of her recognition by the Orange County
Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2014 OCIAA Scholar Athlete;
and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Stephanie McDermott has
distinguished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent,
and maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement,
purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful
years; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie McDermott, a student at James I. O'Neill High
School in West Point, New York, ranked 6th in her class and participated
in cross country, indoor track and spring track; and
WHEREAS, A member of Interact Club, Environmental Club, SADD and serv-
ing as National Honor Society Treasurer, Stephanie McDermott plans to
attend West Point Military Academy to major in Engineering; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Stephanie
McDermott has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie McDermott may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie McDermott represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of
her future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Stephanie McDermott upon the occasion of her recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2014 OCIAA Scho-
lar Athlete, and to wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stephanie McDermott.
