LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Rachel Tenney of Colonie Central
High School upon the occasion of her designation as Teenager of the Year
by the Colonie Elks Lodge
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Rachel Tenney of Colonie Central High School upon the occasion of
her designation as Teenager of the Year by the Colonie Elks Lodge; she
will be honored on Friday, May 23, 2014; and
WHEREAS, An accomplished, conscientious and active senior at Colonie
High School, Rachel Tenney has accumulated an impressive list of
achievements during her outstanding high school career; listed on her
school's High Honor Roll since the ninth grade and ranked second in her
class, she is a member of the National Honor Society, has received a
National Merit Scholarship Program Commendation, and is the recipient of
the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award; and
WHEREAS, Rachel Tenney was elected her school's Homecoming Queen in
September 2013; already displaying notable leadership ability, she is an
alumna of the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Program (HOBY), and is now a
discussion leader with the initiative; and
WHEREAS, Rachel Tenney's extracurricular activities are equally
impressive; a member of the varsity lacrosse team since the 9th grade,
this talented young woman is a founding member of ICARE: Student-Run
Character Education Committee, and was President and is now Fundraising
Chair of the Executive Club; and
WHEREAS, Rachel Tenney was selected for this special honor because of
her strong academic performance, her service to the school, and her
commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, Rachel Tenney's sense of civic duty and her commitment to
others represents the best development of the potential which is inher-
ent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Rachel Tenney of Colonie Central High School upon the occa-
sion of her designation as Teenager of the Year by the Colonie Elks
Lodge; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rachel Tenney.
