LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mary Zick upon the occasion of her
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2014 OCIAA Scholar Athlete
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Mary Zick upon
the occasion of her recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic
Athletic Association as a 2014 OCIAA Scholar Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Mary Zick has distinguished
herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and maturity,
establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposefulness of
life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Mary Zick, a student at John S. Burke Catholic School, ranked
1st in her class with a GPA of 100.58, and was on the volleyball team;
and
WHEREAS, She is a member of the National Honor Society, Valedictorian
of her class, 4-H, and a Junior Volunteer at Orange Regional Medical
Center; she plans to attend either SUNY Geneseo or Siena College and
major in Chemistry; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Mary Zick has
brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Mary Zick may stand with pride in her achievements, experi-
encing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she continues
her education; and
WHEREAS, Mary Zick represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mary Zick upon the occasion of her recognition by the Orange Coun-
ty Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2014 OCIAA Scholar Athlete,
and to wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mary Zick.
