LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Brockport High School Library upon
the occasion of its designation as the 2014 School Library of the Year
by the Rochester Regional Library Council on June 5, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across the great State
of New York are reflective of certain exemplary institutions whose
purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the needs of its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Brockport High School Library upon the occasion of its designation
as the 2014 School Library of the Year by the Rochester Regional Library
Council, to be celebrated at its Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 5,
2014, at Casa Larga, Fairport, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Rochester Regional Library Council (RRLC) is a multi-type
library network serving libraries and library systems in the five-county
Rochester region of Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Wayne and Wyoming coun-
ties; and
WHEREAS, RRLC provides programs and services that enhance member
library cooperation, service delivery and resource sharing; it also
serves as a forum for the unified representation of library interests
helping members achieve together what could not be achieved separately;
and
WHEREAS, Through RRLC, its members can coordinate and relate their
diverse activities to create a more effective service network to improve
information access for the people of the Rochester region and beyond;
and
WHEREAS, Brockport High School Library's Online Databases provide
access to thousands of magazines, journals, newspaper articles, refer-
ence books, and ebooks; the school's Style Manual is a comprehensive
guide to research and writing, as well as links to other sites which
provide instruction on citing sources in a research paper; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of school Librarian Kathleen
Jaccarino, the Brockport High School Library is truly a place to learn
and grow, and hosts numerous opportunities to get both teacher and
student groups together for reading activities; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Kathleen Jaccarino, and library staff, Jane Agte
and Pauline Pratt, are knowledgeable, enthusiastic, creative and accom-
modating; these remarkable women take on much more than their job
descriptions entail, cultivating relationships with faculty and students
alike, working on the school culture and the attitudes students have
toward reading; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when insti-
tutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Brockport High School Library upon the occasion of its
designation as the 2014 School Library of the Year by the Rochester
Regional Library Council on June 5, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Librarian Kathleen Jaccarino, Brockport High School Library,
Brockport, New York.
