LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Shay Kerwin upon the occasion of his
designation as Youth Volunteer of the Year by Troy Area United Minis-
tries on May 29, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS; Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Shay
Kerwin upon the occasion of his designation as Youth Volunteer of the
Year by Troy Area United Ministries, to be celebrated at its FEAST event
on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the Franklin Terrace, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Active within his community, Shay Kerwin's distinguished
service to the Troy Area United Ministries (TAUM) merits the recognition
and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, Shay Kerwin is a nine year old boy who has volunteered for
several years in the kitchen for TAUM church dinners and specials
events; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and serv-
ing can be sustained and strengthened; and
WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, Shay Kerwin is a credit to his family, his school, his commu-
nity, his State and his Nation, and no doubt his future will be filled
with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Shay Kerwin upon the occasion of his designation as Youth Volun-
teer of the Year by Troy Area United Ministries, and to extend to him
best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-being; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Shay Kerwin.
