LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Erie Hotel and Restaurant upon the occa-
sion of its induction into the Tri-State Chamber of Commerce Hall of
Fame on May 17, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals and businesses who devote themselves to the welfare of the communi-
ty and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Erie Hotel and
Restaurant upon the occasion of its induction into the Tri-State Chamber
of Commerce Hall of Fame, celebrated at its 24th Annual Spring Banquet
on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the Best Western Inn at Hunt's Landing;
and
WHEREAS, The Tri-State Chamber of Commerce acts as the local Chamber
of Commerce for the City of Port Jervis and Town of Deerpark, Orange
County, New York, the Borough of Matamoras, Pike County, Pennsylvania,
and the Village of Montague, Sussex County, New Jersey; these three
communities are located in the three fastest growing counties in their
respective states; and
WHEREAS, The purpose of the Tri-State Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame
is to recognize and honor those businesses that have shown dedication to
the Chamber and its mission while improving the quality of life in the
Tri-State area through entrepreneurship, leadership and commitment to
the region's business community; and
WHEREAS, Erie Hotel and Restaurant has been selected for this esteemed
honor for its demonstration of innovation and entrepreneurship in busi-
ness, as well as for its integrity, accountability, and strong sense of
business ethics in day-to-day business operations; and
WHEREAS, Erie Hotel was built in 1890 when the Erie Lackawanna Rail-
road was bustling and local businesses were thriving; the current owners
purchased the business in 1986, and oversaw the complete restoration in
1994, after a fire severely damaged the building; and
WHEREAS, With a mission to treat its community and its customers as
part of the family, Erie Hotel and Restaurant is open seven days a week
for lunch and dinner, and in the summer months, customers can enjoy
dining on an outdoor patio, complete with a Tiki Bar; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, its most recent addition, Erie Trackside Manor,
is a catering facility located directly next door, accommodating
weddings, banquets and parties in a more private setting; and
WHEREAS, The Erie complex provides a comfortable fine dining experi-
ence at an affordable price, and its expert wait staff is courteous,
prompt, friendly, and passionate about its customers; its highly
skilled, knowledgeable chefs combine the freshest ingredients to produce
a vast assortment of creative and delectable dishes; and
WHEREAS, The Erie Hotel and Restaurant is truly committed to the Port
Jervis, New York community it has so ably served for decades; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those individ-
uals and businesses who enhance the well-being and vitality of their
community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence
certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Erie Hotel and Restaurant upon the occasion of its induction into
the Tri-State Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame on May 17, 2014; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Erie Hotel and Restaurant.
