LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION recognizing Christopher J. Cassar, Esq. as he is
honored at the 2014 St. Hugh of Lincoln Annual Golf Classic on June 23

WHEREAS, Individuals who distinguish themselves in their profession and
in service to their community merit the highest commendation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing tradition, this Legislative Body is justly proud to recognize
and pay tribute to Christopher J. Cassar, Esq. as he is honored at the
2014 St. Hugh of Lincoln Annual Golf Classic to be held on Monday, June
23, 2014, at the Huntington Crescent Club in Huntington, New York; and
WHEREAS, Christopher J. Cassar has very fond memories of St. Hugh; in
addition to regularly participating in Mass, he attended St. Hugh's
grammar school for several years, was an altar boy, and worked for a
period of time in the rectory; he was also employed at the Community
Food Market, just a block away from St. Hugh, for ten years; and
WHEREAS, After high school, Christopher Cassar attended college at a
Catholic university to continue his studies while continuing to develop
his faith in Christ, graduating from St. John's University in Queens
with a Bachelor degree; and
WHEREAS, Christopher later attended Hofstra University School of Law,
where he was drawn to the practice of criminal law; it was during his
years at Hofstra that Christopher made a commitment to develop skills as
a trial attorney and represent the poor and disenfranchised in our soci-
ety; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from law school, Christopher Cassar joined
the New York City Legal Aid Society as a Staff Attorney in their Brook-
lyn office, representing indigent people in the criminal justice system;
and
WHEREAS, After acquiring invaluable experience with Legal Aid, in
1991, Christopher founded his own law firm in Huntington Village; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Cassar's areas of practice have expanded over the
years to include civil litigation, personal injury, family law, criminal
litigation, real estate and immigration law; the firm now has several
associate attorneys who are dedicated to providing the highest quality
legal services to their clients; and
WHEREAS, Christopher J. Cassar is admitted to practice law in the
State of New York, the United States District Courts for the Eastern,
Southern and Northern Districts of New York and the United States Court
of Appeals for the Second Circuit; and
WHEREAS, Christopher J. Cassar has conducted more than 100 trials and
pre-trial hearings in both state and federal jurisdictions and Christo-
pher and his firm donate a considerable amount of time and services to
the indigent; and
WHEREAS, Christopher J. Cassar's law firm is nationally recognized; in
2013, he proudly accepted an invitation to become a member of a national
trial lawyers association known as "The National Association of Trial
Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers" which recognized his dedication, skill
and excellence in the practice of trial law; and
WHEREAS, Some of Christopher J. Cassar's cases have been covered by
local and national media such as NEWSDAY, News 12, News 4, and Eyewit-
ness News, and E! Entertainment which featured Christopher Cassar in a
production entitled "Saviors to Scandals"; and
WHEREAS, Christopher J. Cassar currently resides in Greenlawn, New
York with his cherished wife of 25 years, Colleen Rey Cassar and their
two wonderful children, Christopher and Ashley; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize and commend Christopher J. Cassar as he is honored at the 2014

St. Hugh of Lincoln Annual Golf Classic on June 23, 2014; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Christopher J. Cassar, Esq.
