LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Chili Public Library upon the occa-
sion of its designation as recipient of the 2014 Public Library of the
Year Award by the Rochester Regional Library Council
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across the great State
of New York are reflective of certain exemplary institutions whose
purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the needs of its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Chili Public Library upon the occasion of its designation as recipient
of the 2014 Public Library of the Year Award by the Rochester Regional
Library Council; this auspicious occasion will be celebrated on Thurs-
day, June 5, 2014, at the Casa Larga Vineyards, Rochester, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Public Library of the Year Award recognizes and promotes
exemplary public libraries in the Greater Rochester region; the criteria
for selection includes the provision of superior customer service,
inviting environments, excellent learning resources, and strong support
from their user communities; and
WHEREAS, For over 50 years the Chili Public Library has provided a
welcoming place for the residents of Rochester, New York, to engage in
lifelong learning, pleasure reading, and programs for all ages; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed center of community life features an extensive
library collection encompassing such areas as local history, job infor-
mation, movies, music, and parenting; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to helping children fulfill their potential, the
Chili Public Library has an outstanding children's book section, and
also provides numerous child programs including the American Girl Club
and the Lego Club, as well as numerous story times and arts and crafts
projects; and
WHEREAS, The Chili Public Library's many vital services and resources
have earned it the admiration and affection of the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, The success enjoyed by the Chili Public Library is in direct
correlation to the efforts of the many individuals who have supported
the development of the library over the years; and
WHEREAS, Equally commendable are the Chili Public Library's superbly-
skilled staff, whose involvement is and has always been characterized by
an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all of their efforts on behalf of the library
and its patrons; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those individ-
uals and organizations who enhance the quality of life in their communi-
ty and have shown a long and sustained commitment to the maintenance of
high standards in their profession, certainly have earned the recogni-
tion and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Chili Public Library upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2014 Public Library of the Year Award by the Rochester
Regional Library Council; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Chili Public Library, Rochester, New York.
