LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating South Middle School in Newburgh,
New York, upon the occasion of celebrating its Community Field Day on
May 31, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose exem-
plary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate the pursuit of
excellence in education and service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late South Middle School in Newburgh, New York, upon the occasion of
celebrating its Community Field Day on Saturday, May 31, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The mission of South Middle School is to create a model
middle school wherein great leaders, teachers, and students, with the
help of the community, will establish a vibrant learning culture by
collaborating to meet the academic, emotional, social, and physical
needs of all students, evidenced by high student engagement and achieve-
ment; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, instrumental in the accomplishment of this
mission is the partnership of South Middle School students, administra-
tors, teachers, staff, and family, as well as the community at large;
and
WHEREAS, Community Field Day is a day to promote South Middle School,
the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, and the Newburgh community;
and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of its Principal, Michael Ragu-
sa, South Middle School continues to fulfill its laudatory educational
purposes and is proudly aware of its distinguished past; eager to
fulfill its commitment to its students, faculty, alumni and community,
South Middle School is planning with vision and purpose for the growth
and change it will encounter in the years to come; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to South Middle
School in Newburgh, New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an educa-
tional institution of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to
our attention, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate South Middle School in Newburgh, New York upon the occasion
of celebrating its Community Field Day on May 31, 2014; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Principal Michael Ragusa, South Middle School, Newburgh, New
York.
