LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring John Prumo upon the occasion of his
retirement after many years of distinguished service to GPO Federal
Credit Union

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor John
Prumo upon the occasion of his retirement after many years of distin-
guished service to GPO Federal Credit Union, to be celebrated on Satur-
day, May 31, 2014, at Daniele's Banquet Specialists, New Hartford, New
York; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as President and CEO of GPO Federal Credit
Union, John Prumo served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, For more than 30 years, John Prumo has dedicated his career
to serving and leading the credit union movement; he began his illustri-
ous career with GPO Federal Credit Union in 1979, and served on the
Association Board of Directors from 1987 until 2011; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure with GPO Federal Credit Union, John
Prumo oversaw the company merge many credit unions into its field of
membership, including those credit unions affiliated with most health-
care facilities in the Utica, New York area; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, John Prumo saw the opportunity to offer credit
union membership to residents living in under-served communities which
expanded the reach of GPO Federal Credit Union and gave many individuals
the opportunity and access to join a credit union for the first time;
and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, John Prumo was governed by a keen sense
of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, John Prumo played an active role in the Utica-Rome District
and what was then known as the New York State Credit Union League
(NYSCUL); he served as Chairman of the Board for the NYSCUL and contin-
ued on the Board of the Credit Union Association of New York and the New
York Credit Union Foundation; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he served on CUNA's Board of Directors, CUNA
Strategic Services' Board of Directors, and on the Board and Supervisory
committee of the former Members United Corporate Federal Credit Union;
and
WHEREAS, For more than three decades, John Prumo rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to GPO Federal Credit Union; and
WHEREAS, John Prumo's commitment as a credit union leader has made a
significant impact on the credit union movement at the local, state and
national level, and this commitment has inspired others within the move-
ment; and
WHEREAS, Subsequently, the Credit Union Association of New York, on
behalf of Credit Union House, recognized John Prumo with a plaque
commemorating his induction into the Credit Union House Hall of Leaders
at its Annual Meeting and Convention in 2012; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with GPO Federal Credit Union, John Prumo
earned the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor John Prumo upon the occasion of his retirement after many years of
distinguished service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Prumo.
