LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Victoria Stennett upon the occasion of
stepping down from the esteemed position of Board Chair of the Flatbush
YMCA
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those individuals within the Empire State who have made
strong contributions to their communities and who inspire others through
their model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Victoria Stennett upon the occasion of stepping down from the esteemed
position of Board Chair of the Flatbush YMCA, to be celebrated at its
Board Meeting on Thursday, June 19, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Victoria Stennett has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A committed member of the Flatbush Board of Managers since
2007, Victoria Stennett was the Strong Kids Campaign Chair for
2010-2011, and assumed the Board Chair position in 2013; she is a strong
community leader who is passionate about the underserved in the Flatbush
Community, specifically issues pertaining to women and children; and
WHEREAS, Victoria Stennett has collaborated with the Flatbush YMCA for
the past 10 years to host the Annual Christmas Dinner, and plays a key
role in the children's toy distribution; she was also instrumental in
starting the Annual Mother's Day event which fetes and pampers local
mothers for the day; and
WHEREAS, An avid volunteer, Victoria Stennett is an active member of
the community and sits on several different boards; she is greatly
admired for her commitment and support to the Flatbush YMCA, as well as
the community-at-large, and is highly respected by her peers for her
tireless efforts; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Victoria Stennett has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Victoria Stennett has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Victoria Stennett upon the occasion of stepping down from the
esteemed position of Board Chair of the Flatbush YMCA; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Victoria Stennett.
