LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 34th Anniversary of Services
Now for Adult Persons, Inc. to be celebrated on June 27, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations within the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 34th Anniversary of Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc. to
be celebrated on Friday, June 27, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc.'s mission is to provide
direct services to enhance the quality of life for older adults, provide
coordination of care plans and advocacy on behalf of clients, and
provide linkages to community resources to assist them in remaining
independent community residents; and
WHEREAS, Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc. has accepted the chal-
lenge of being dedicated to the needs of older adults, providing direct
services to enhance their quality of life; and
WHEREAS, This worthy organization was established in 1980 through the
Senior Service Coordinating Committee's identification of gaps in
services for older adults in Community Boards 11 and 13; and
WHEREAS, In January of 2012, Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc.
became an Innovative Senior Center, adding exciting new educational,
health, and wellness programs; today, classes have been expanded to
evenings and Saturday mornings; and
WHEREAS, These senior centers are available to persons 60 years and
older with transportation available to community resources, including
the senior center, doctor appointments, and shopping; the senior centers
are also handicap accessible, and hot and alternative lunches are served
on a daily basis; and
WHEREAS, Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc. numerous homebound
programs and services include: case management, transportation to
medical services, senior centers, and shopping facilities, home deliv-
ered meals, obtaining benefits and entitlements, information and refer-
ral, advocacy, and volunteer services; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc. runs a very
successful Caregiver Program to assist caregivers in the task of caring
for elderly loved ones; its services include counseling, support groups,
educational seminars, information assistance, referrals, and respite
services; and
WHEREAS, Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc. works closely with all
the not-for-profits in the aging network and with all service providers
in its community; these relationships have proven to he helpful in
understanding and negotiating the social service system for their
clients; and
WHEREAS, Today, Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc. remains the most
comprehensive service provider for the aged located in eastern Queens,
New York; and
WHEREAS, The success of Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc. is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its volunteers, whose involvement
is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the association and the population it serves;
and

WHEREAS, Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc. reveals itself as an
organization which continuously strives to preserve and enhance the
unique qualities of its community; and
WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations devoted to improving the quali-
ty of life for others, enabling them to build lives of dignity and self-
worth are deserving of the highest praise and recognition; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 34th Anniversary of Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc.
to be celebrated June 27, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc.
