LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Faye M. Martin upon the occasion
of her selection as the 2014 Arbor Day Poster Contest winner
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor and pay
tribute to those individuals whose commitment and creative talents have
contributed greatly to the entertainment, cultural and educational
enrichment of their community as well as of the entire State of New
York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Faye M.
Martin upon the occasion of her selection as the 2014 Arbor Day Poster
Contest winner; and
WHEREAS, The Arbor Day Poster Contest is held annually in conjunction
with the nationally recognized observance of Arbor Day, promoting tree
planting and the importance of trees to our environment, our economy and
our way of life; and
WHEREAS, Each year the public is invited to submit photography or
artwork to be considered for the State Arbor Day Poster, a long time
tradition, with over 100,000 posters printed for distribution to 3,500
schools throughout New York State, as well as at the New York State Fair
and many other venues; and
WHEREAS, Faye M. Martin's photograph, "Rebirth", picturing a seedling
coming out of a white pine stump, photographed at Stowe Bay Park in
Colton, New York, was chosen for the 2014 Arbor Day Poster; and
WHEREAS, Faye M. Martin was honored at the Annual New York State Arbor
Day celebration at the Capitol, in Albany, on April 25, 2014; and
WHEREAS, An accomplished photographer, Faye M. Martin, a resident of
Watertown, New York, has also written and provided artwork for chil-
dren's books; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents a unique opportunity for this Legisla-
tive Body to recognize and pay tribute to the talents of photographer
Faye M. Martin; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to pay
tribute and honor renowned photographer Faye M. Martin upon the occasion
of her selection as the 2014 Arbor Day Poster Contest winner; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Faye M. Martin.
