LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Georgia Lyons upon the occasion of her
designation as the recipient of a 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for
Excellence in Classified Service

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Georgia Lyons upon the occasion of her designation as the recipient of a
2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Classified Service, which
was celebrated on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Sullivan County Community
College (SUNY Sullivan) 50th Annual Commencement Ceremony in the Paul
Gerry Fieldhouse; and
WHEREAS, Faculty and staff who receive the Chancellor's Award for
Excellence have served their students, fellow faculty and staff, campus-
es, and communities with the utmost distinction, and have demonstrated
extraordinary dedication and service to SUNY Sullivan; Georgia Lyons is
one such individual; and
WHEREAS, In 2000, Georgia Lyons joined SUNY Sullivan as Secretary to
the Athletic Department, and has diligently and generously served in
that same position ever since; and
WHEREAS, With each passing year, Georgia Lyons has demonstrated a
caring commitment to SUNY Sullivan's steadfast professionalism; whether
publicly or individually, and tireless dedication to its athletic
programs, as well as to the college at large; and
WHEREAS, Given her straightforward attentiveness and gentle kindheart-
edness, Georgia Lyons simply cannot stop herself from offering personal-
ized help to one and all; she is an exceptional team player in an envi-
ronment where teamwork and the greater good are keys to success; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of individuals such as Georgia Lyons, who, by providing their
skills and talents to our schools, work to support our proud tradition
of public education; and
WHEREAS, Georgia Lyons has clearly had an enduring impact on the youth
of SUNY Sullivan, as well as on the community-at-large, and accordingly
merits recognition and applause for her impressive dedication to others;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Georgia Lyons upon the occasion of her designation as the recipi-
ent of a 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Classified
Service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Georgia Lyons.
