LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Gabriel Rikard upon the occasion of
his designation as the recipient of a 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for
Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing tradition, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr.
Gabriel Rikard upon the occasion of his designation as the recipient of
a 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Crea-
tive Activities, which was celebrated on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at
Sullivan County Community College (SUNY Sullivan) 50th Annual Commence-
ment Ceremony in the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse; and
WHEREAS, Faculty and staff who receive the Chancellor's Award for
Excellence have served their students, fellow faculty and staff, campus-
es, and communities with the utmost distinction, and have demonstrated
extraordinary dedication and service to SUNY Sullivan; Dr. Gabriel
Rikard is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, Since his arrival at SUNY Sullivan, Dr. Gabriel Rikard has
successfully undertaken all activities expected of faculty; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Dr. Gabriel Rikard has maintained an active
research and scholarship agenda of which even colleagues at four-year
colleges would be proud; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Dr. Gabriel Rikard attends and presents at
national conferences, and is one of the rare faculty members in SUNY
Sullivan's 50-year history to publish a scholarly book; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of individuals such as Dr. Gabriel Rikard, who, by providing
their skills and talents to our schools, work to support our proud
tradition of public education; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Gabriel Rikard has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of SUNY Sullivan, as well as on the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for his impressive dedi-
cation to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Gabriel Rikard upon the occasion of his designation as the
recipient of a 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholar-
ship and Creative Activities; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Gabriel Rikard.
