LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Linda Cherry upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the United Tenants of Albany on
June 11, 2014

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Linda Cherry has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Linda Cherry
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
United Tenants of Albany, to be celebrated at its 41st Annual Meeting on
Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at St. Vincent De Paul Parish Hall, Albany,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Linda Cherry has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Executive Director of the Bleecker Terrace Apartments, a 287
unit subsidized housing development in Albany's West Hill Neighborhood,
Linda Cherry is being recognized by United Tenants of Albany for the
compassionate management style which has been her trademark at the
Bleecker Terrace Apartments for the past 16 years; and
WHEREAS, Linda Cherry received her training in Human Services and it
is evident in the way she works on a daily basis with the residents at
Bleecker Terrace; she understands the daily challenges and pressures
faced by low and moderate income families in today's uncertain economic
environment; and
WHEREAS, With a willingness to develop realistic repayment plans for
those families who have fallen behind on rent, Linda Cherry has garnered
considerable respect and admiration from the residents of Bleecker
Terrace, as well as from the staff at the United Tenants of Albany, for
her compassion, empathy and flexibility; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Linda Cherry has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Linda Cherry has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Linda Cherry upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the United Tenants of Albany on June 11, 2014; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Linda Cherry.
