LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Global Interfaith Council upon the
occasion of its IFA.ORISHA Festival "Prayer for Peace" on June 7, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to participate in
events of significance to the people of this State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend the Global Interfaith Council upon the occasion of its
IFA.ORISHA Festival "Prayer for Peace" on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at
Brower Park, Crown Heights, Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Global Interfaith Council is under the luminous direction of
President, Dr. Glenville Ashby; Community Organizer, Baba Mahaba Olufe-
mi; Coordinator, Iya Tifase; Treasurer, Bishop Farla; and Secretary,
Indira Gosina; and
WHEREAS, Prayer has always been an important part of our nation's
heritage; and
WHEREAS, Since our nation's earliest days, Americans have prayed as a
way of guiding, uniting, and healing; in times of peace and prosperity,
tragedy and joy, prayer has provided comfort and sustenance; and
WHEREAS, It is fitting and proper to give thanks to God by observing
and participating in this significant event on June 7, 2014, when all
may acknowledge our blessings and express gratitude for them, while
recognizing the need for strengthening religious and moral values in our
State and Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Global Interfaith Council upon the occasion of its
IFA.ORISHA Festival "Prayer for Peace" on June 7, 2014; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to President, Dr. Glenville Ashby, Global Interfaith Council.
