LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 70th year Platinum Jubilee
Anniversary of the Star of Bethlehem Grand Chapter Order of Eastern
Star, State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 70th Anniversary of the Star of Bethlehem Grand Chapter Order
of Eastern Star, State of New York; this auspicious occasion will be
celebrated on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Antun's in Queens Village,
New York; and
WHEREAS, The Star of Bethlehem Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star is
a community based charitable organization with a mission of providing
cultural enrichment, education and information and a framework for self-
empowerment; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the principles of charity, truth and loving
kindness, the Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star, State of New York
provides donations to numerous causes throughout the State and Nation;
and
WHEREAS, This esteemed organization offers a wide range of services to
the community including educational resources, scholarship aid and coun-
seling services for youth; furthermore, the group offers Thanksgiving
dinners for disadvantaged families and hosts a Christmas party for local
children; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the Star of Bethlehem Grand Chapter Order of
Eastern Star, State of New York sponsors numerous events in support of
worthy causes including an annual health and education fair, and a food
and clothing drive for the people of Haiti; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Star of Bethlehem Grand Chapter
Order of Eastern Star, State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sister Lorraine Jamison, Worthy Grand Matron of the Star of
Bethlehem Grand Chapter.
