LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Matt Terry upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2014 Farmer of the Year Award by the
readers of THE DAILY STAR

WHEREAS, The agricultural industry is part of the foundation upon which
our distinct American heritage is built; and
WHEREAS, New York State and the entire United States is dependent on
our agricultural industry for a variety of food products; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of our farmers as they continue their hard work of cultivating
the land, facing the many challenges of nature such as flood, drought
and heat, in order to grow our food; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Matt
Terry upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2014
Farmer of the Year Award by the readers of THE DAILY STAR; and
WHEREAS, Matt Terry, of Franklin, New York, graduated from SUNY
Cobleskill, Class of 2000, and began his farming career with just a
small number of cows; he now runs a respected farming operation with
over 160 cattle and 85 milking cows; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed farmer is dedicated to maintaining high stand-
ards of quality, and works constantly to achieve the best results from
both his feeding and breeding programs; and
WHEREAS, In 2013, Matt Terry was awarded the Supreme Champion prize at
the Walton Fair for his prize Jersey cow, Courtney, quite an accomplish-
ment in a field where Holstein breeds dominate; and
WHEREAS, During the entire period of his agricultural career, a period
of constructive involvement in agriculture and animal husbandry, Matt
Terry has stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Through his diligence and expertise in farming, Matt Terry
has brought pride and recognition to himself, his local community, and
to our great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Matt Terry upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2014 Farmer of the Year Award by the readers of THE DAILY STAR; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Matt Terry.
