LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Champions of Choice upon the occasion
of its Awards Luncheon, April 30, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of organizations
and individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of the community;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Champions of Choice upon the occasion of its Awards Luncheon, held on
April 30, 2014, at 583 Park Avenue, New York City; Felicia Taylor,
International Anchor and Correspondent served as this year's Emcee; and
WHEREAS, Champions of Choice was proud to pay special recognition to
the 2014 honorees, Barbara Shack who served as the Chairperson of NARAL
Pro-Choice New York for a decade, and Joanna Coles, Editor-in-Chief of
COSMOPOLITAN magazine, both of whom are worthy of this esteemed tribute;
and
WHEREAS, Champions of Choice is under the able leadership of Donna
Bascom, Jill Braufman, Kristen Dickey, Raquel Levin, Margaret Munzer
Loeb, Julie Menin, Laura Ross, Donald and Barbara Shack, Nancy Silver-
man, and Audrey Spiegel; and
WHEREAS, In light of its commitment, dedication, and successful
efforts, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to extend its highest
commendation to Champions of Choice; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Champions of Choice upon the occasion of its Awards Luncheon,
April 30, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Champions of Choice.
