LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Reverend Craig B. Gaddy Sr. upon the
occasion of his 15th Anniversary as Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church
to be celebrated on September 26, 2014

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Reverend
Craig B. Gaddy Sr. upon the occasion of his 15th Anniversary as Pastor
of Friendship Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Gaddy along with the entire Friendship Baptist
Church community will celebrate this most auspicious occasion at "A
Black Tie Affair" to be held on Friday, September 26, 2014, at Russo's
on the Bay, Howard Beach, New York; and
WHEREAS, A native of Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, Reverend Gaddy
serves as the Senior Pastor of the Friendship Baptist Church of Brook-
lyn; in his 15 years as pastor, he has gained the respect and love of
his neighbors, community activists, political leaders and business
owners; he stands as a representative of the religious community that
continues to challenge the racial, social, and economic injustices of
our day and continues to serve the greater interest of the people and
the community; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Gaddy takes great pride in the growing ministries of
empowerment, and self-improvement in which Friendship Baptist Church has
to offer; the community based programs include: GED training, computer
literacy, ESL (English as a Second Language), computerized bookkeeping,
a Welfare to Work incentive, the Boy Scouts Pack-092, the Girl Scouts
Troop-2032, the Phoenix House Rehabilitation program and a recruiting
site for the College of New Rochelle including four city-wide campuses;
and
WHEREAS, Reverend Gaddy has also had the opportunity to serve on
Community Board 3, the Executive Board of the NAACP, the Advisory Boards
of the Bedford Stuyvesant Legal Services, the State University of New
York (BEOC), the Paul Robeson Theater, the Neighborhood Advisory Board,
the Community Action Board of Bedford Stuyvesant, the Board of Managers
and Advisory Board of the Eastern Baptist Association, and the Assistant
Chaplain for the New York City Police Department and the New York City
Transit Authority; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his children, Nyesha Joi, Craig
Jr. and Briana, as well as his grandchildren, Syon and Sevi, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Gaddy has brought to his ministry an overwhelming
spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and enlightenment
in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties, while always
displaying the highest standards of personal and professional integrity
and dedication; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given enlightenment,
guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has adminis-
tered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal needs of
all; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Reverend Craig B. Gaddy Sr. upon the occasion of his 15th Anni-
versary as Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, noting his unremitting
and compassionate faith and his exemplary service to God, man, and his
community, and extending to him the heartfelt best wishes of this Legis-
lative Body for a future of purposeful success and well-being; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Craig B. Gaddy Sr., Pastor, Friendship Baptist
Church.
