LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Cherie Wierzbicki-McMickle upon the
occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2014 SUNY Chancellor's
Award for Professional Service
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing tradition, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Cher-
ie Wierzbicki-McMickle upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Professional Service, which was
celebrated on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at SUNY Orange's Annual Commence-
ment Ceremony; and
WHEREAS, Faculty and staff who receive the Chancellor's Award for
Excellence have served their students, fellow faculty and staff, campus-
es, and communities with the utmost distinction, and have demonstrated
extraordinary dedication and service to SUNY Orange; Cherie Wierzbicki-
McMickle is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, The Senior Clerk in the Financial Aid Office of SUNY Orange
for 22 years, Cherie Wierzbicki-McMickle has shepherded the office's
infusion of technology into its daily operations; and
WHEREAS, Cherie Wierzbicki-McMickle has created an electronic version
of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, established e-forms
which are used by both students and staff, developed a Financial Aid
Resource Guide, and updated manuals for several software programs regu-
larly utilized by financial aid staff; and
WHEREAS, Respected for her exemplary customer service to students,
parents, and members of the community, Cherie Wierzbicki-McMickle
conducts SUNY Orange Workshop Nights at area high schools to help
students apply for admission to SUNY Orange, complete necessary forms to
request grade transcripts and immunization records, and submit forms for
the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, TAP, and supplemental
financial aid; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of individuals such as Cherie Wierzbicki-McMickle, who, by
providing their skills and talents to our schools, work to support our
proud tradition of public education; and
WHEREAS, Cherie Wierzbicki-McMickle has clearly had an enduring impact
on the youth of SUNY Orange, as well as on the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for her impressive dedi-
cation to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Cherie Wierzbicki-McMickle upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Professional Service;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cherie Wierzbicki-McMickle.
