LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Burt J. Blustein upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Fifty Year Service Award by the
Orange County Bar Association
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those singular individuals who devote their purposeful lives
and careers to preserving the rights and protecting the welfare of the
citizens of their community and the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Burt
J. Blustein upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Fifty Year Service Award by the Orange County Bar Association, cele-
brated at its 103rd Annual Awards and Business Dinner Meeting on Thurs-
day, May 8, 2014, at the Falkirk Estate and Country Club, Central
Valley, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1940, Burt Blustein graduated
with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at
Binghamton in 1961; he completed his Juris Doctorate at the Brooklyn Law
School in 1964; and
WHEREAS, After five decades practicing in the field of Law, litigation
and business and corporate representation are the primary focus of Burt
J. Blustein's practice; he is recognized as one of the leading commer-
cial litigators in Orange County; and
WHEREAS, As the senior member of the firm, Blustein, Shapiro, Rich &
Barone, LLP, Burt J. Blustein serves as a mentor to the younger attor-
neys; in addition to his vast trial level experience, he has argued
appeals at all levels, including the New York Court of Appeals; and
WHEREAS, Burt J. Blustein is a member of the New York Bar, and is
admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for both
the Southern and Northern Districts; he is a member and past president
of the Middletown Bar Association, as well as a member of the American,
New York State and Orange County Bar Associations; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Burt J. Blustein served for fifteen years on the
Orange County Bar Association Grievance Committee, five of which, as its
chairman; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Burt J. Blustein upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Fifty Year Service Award by the Orange County Bar Association;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Burt J. Blustein.
