LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Donna Conlin of Schodack, New York upon
the occasion of her selection as Clerk of the Year by the New York State
Town Clerk's Association
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the great
State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good works
of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate their
lives and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, Donna Conlin has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Donna Conlin
of Schodack, New York upon the occasion of her selection as Clerk of the
Year by the New York State Town Clerk's Association (NYSTCA); she was
honored at the NYSTCA's 32nd Annual Conference in Saratoga Springs, New
York, on April 27-30, 2014; and
WHEREAS, In 1980, Donna Conlin was appointed as a part time Deputy
Town Clerk of the Town of Schodack and became acting Town Clerk three
years later; and
WHEREAS, For over three decades, this esteemed woman has dedicated
herself to public service, consistently putting the needs of town resi-
dents first; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure, Donna Conlin admirably promoted the Office
of the Town Clerk as the open door to local government for town resi-
dents, tirelessly assisting them with their concerns and questions no
matter what their situation may be; and
WHEREAS, As town clerk, Donna Conlin was instrumental in helping
establish a modern computerized management system which became one of
the most utilized software programs for town clerks in the state;
furthermore, she was actively involved in the Local Government Telecom-
munications Initiative Project, connecting Schodack to the world via the
Internet; and
WHEREAS, For many years, she has been a member of the NYSTCA, an
organization in which she has held various offices, including President;
she has not only monitored sessions for the association and held commit-
tee liaison positions but has also been one of the "trainers training
the class" at the Town Clerk's conference; and
WHEREAS, Donna Conlin has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A member of numerous civic and professional organizations,
she has served in such important roles as Liaison to the Environmental
Protection Agency, President of the Rensselaer County Municipal Clerk's
Association, and as member of the New York State Association of Local
Government Records Officers; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Donna Conlin has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband of almost 24 years,
Jeff, their two daughters, Kim Splain and Heather Pearsall, and three
granddaughters, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which this remarkable woman has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Donna Conlin upon the occasion of her selection as Clerk of the
Year by the New York State Town Clerk's Association; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Donna Conlin.
