LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Patti (Owens) Gessner upon the occasion
of her induction into the Port Jervis High School Alumni Hall of Fame in
October 2014

WHEREAS, Individuals who distinguish themselves in their profession and
in service to their community merit the highest commendation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Patti (Owens) Gessner upon the occasion of her induction into the Port
Jervis High School Alumni Hall of Fame; her outstanding accomplishments
will be recognized in October 2014, at the 2014 Port Jervis High School
Alumni Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Banquet; and
WHEREAS, The Port Jervis High School Alumni Hall of Fame annually
recognizes individuals educated in the Port Jervis City School District
who have achieved personal success and have made significant contrib-
utions to society, thereby serving as role models to inspire current and
future generations of Port Jervis students; and
WHEREAS, Patti (Owens) Gessner, Class of 1971, established a family
business, "Al's Music Shop," along with her husband, Al, in 1988; the
Port Jervis enterprise specializes in unique and hard to find musical
instruments; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Patti (Owens) Gessner is actively engaged in the
civic and cultural life of her community; she is President of the Depot
Preservation Society, has run the Drew Methodist Church Food Pantry for
more than 16 years, and has been an active member of the Broome Street
Band since its inception in 1988; and
WHEREAS, As a member of the 2014 Hall of Fame Class, Patti (Owens)
Gessner's name, photo, and biography will be inscribed on a plaque and
placed on permanent display at Port Jervis High School, an ever-present
reminder to students of the doors opened by a strong education; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those individ-
uals who enhance the well-being and vitality of their community, and
demonstrate a long and sustained commitment to excellence, certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Patti (Owens) Gessner upon the occasion of her induction into the
Port Jervis High School Alumni Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Patti (Owens) Gessner.
