LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Father Daniel Heintz upon the occasion
of celebrating the 60th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood
on June 5, 2014
WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Father Daniel Heintz upon the occasion of celebrating the 60th Anniver-
sary of his Ordination to the Priesthood on Thursday, June 5, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Father Daniel Heintz was raised in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish
in Utica, New York, and graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School
prior to attending St. Andrew's and St. Bernard's Seminaries; and
WHEREAS, Father Daniel Heintz was ordained to the priesthood on June
5, 1954, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse, New
York; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed pastor's 60 years of ministry includes service
in 19 parishes; he also served as a chaplain in the United States Army
Reserves for 23 years, retiring with the rank of Colonel; and
WHEREAS, Committed to giving back to his community, Father Daniel
Heintz was chaplain to the Utica Police Department and the Knights of
Columbus Oneida Council No. 473; in addition, he was a member of the
Diocesan Priests CCD Executive Committee; and
WHEREAS, Father Daniel Heintz retired in 1999, and remains active
serving in the summer months at the St. Rose of Lima Parish in North
Syracuse, and the winter months serving at St. Peter and Paul the Apos-
tles Church in Bradenton, Florida; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given enlightenment,
guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has adminis-
tered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporeal needs
of all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Father Daniel Heintz upon the occasion of celebrating the 60th
Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood, fully confident that
this commemoration reflects the belief in those values which enhance the
dignity and purpose of life; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Father Daniel Heintz.
